FAQs
What is a snow guard for?
Snow guards are sturdy tools attached to your roof that help stop snow from sliding off your roof.
How do snow guards work?
When properly installed, snow guards act like a grip on the snow, helping hold it in place. This means the snow melts slowly off of your roof instead of suddenly sliding off all at once.
How do I know if I need snow guards on my roof?
You may need snow guards if you:
- Have slate, metal, or shingle roofs
- And live anywhere that receives snow that lays on the ground each winter, such as Canada and most of the northern United States
You especially benefit from installing snow guards if you have walkways or gardens below the edge of your roof. Snow guards help prevent snow from falling on paths, plants, and people.
Do I need to replace my roof snow guards?
Some signs you need to replace your snow guards include:
- Noticing snow piles beneath the edges of your roof
- Hearing snow sliding around while you’re indoors
- Finding one or more previous snow guards on the ground around your home
- Inspecting your current snow guards and noticing damage or looseness
Choose Sieger® Snow Guards for more durable, long-lasting snow guards. Our exclusive design ensures a permanent bond that can even hold up against cleat ladders being attached to them.
